A living trial

The human body is a complex thing (duh) and throws up innumerable challenges to a surgical robotics company. While we want everything to be predictable, visible and stable, in an endovascular procedure the body and its blood vessels are none of those things. This means that testing in a silicone or glass model can only get you so far.

In January 2022, we completed a momentous step with the expert guidance of the team at Covance in San Mateo as we completed our first 'invivo' or 'living' trial. This trial involved swine (pigs to you and me) whose neurovasculature is remarkably similar to humans. The trial was a great success and the simulated procedures were completed without any damage to the pig's vasculature.

Let's add some distance

While the team at Covance have done thousands of invivo studies, they've never seen a company with the ambition of Remedy Robotics. Completion of an invivo study was a huge milestone in itself, but we decided to throw an extra challenge into the mix by having one of doctor's driving the system be located on the other side of the world in Australia - a mere 8000 miles away.

The remote drive was a huge success and there were no complications introduced by connectivity, latency or distance.

This remote drive is a big step in our ultimate ambition to allow doctors to provide immediate, flawless endovascular care to patients located anywhere in the world. Today its a pig, but we are putting our heads down to get this amazing system avaialble for patients as qucikly as possible.
